The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) Odisha has commenced the Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) online application process. Interested candidates can register themselves for the OTET examination from the official website, bseodisha.ac.in. The last date for submission of the application is July 5. Candidates will be able to pay the application fee till July 6.
Exam on August 8
The OTET exam is conducted to recruit eligible candidates for the position of teacher in classes 1 to 8 in government, private aided, and private unaided schools in the state. The OTET exam will be conducted on August 9, consisting of two papers and for each paper, the time duration will be 2 hours 30 minutes. The exam will consist of 150 questions, for each subject. There will be multiple-choice questions, each carrying one mark. There will be no negative marking. Candidates will require a minimum pass mark of 60 per cent. Only candidates from the background of SC, ST, PH, OBC/SEBC will require a minimum pass mark of 50 per cent.
OTET 2024: Eligibility Criteria
Candidates having the mentioned minimum qualification will be eligible to appear in the OTET examination:-
Category A:
- Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50 percent marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (CT or DElEd).
- Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 45 percent marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, following NCTE regulations.
- Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50 percent marks and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (BElEd).
- Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50 percent marks and a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
- Graduation and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
- Graduation with at least 50 percent marks and Bachelor of Education (BEd).
- Post-Graduation with a minimum 55 percent marks or equivalent and three year integrated BEd/MEd/
Category B:
- Graduation and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
- Graduation with at least 50 percent marks and a 1-year Bachelor in Education (BEd).
- Graduation with at least 45 percent marks and a 1-year Bachelor in Education (BEd), in accordance with NCTE regulations.
- Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50 percent marks and a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (BElEd).
- Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50 percent marks and a 4-year BA/BSc Ed or BA Ed./BSc Ed.
- Graduation with at least 50 percent marks and a 1-year BEd (Special Education)
- Post-Graduation with a minimum 55 percent marks or equivalent and three year integrated BEd/MEd.
Odisha TET 2024: How to apply for the OTET exam?
Interested candidates can follow the mentioned steps to apply for the exam:-
- Visit the official website, bseodisha.ac.in.
- A new page will open up containing application link for Paper I, Paper II and both the paper. (Candidates desiring to apply for any one of the paper, Paper I or II, or for both papers should select the login/registration link carefully. Candidates applying via 'For both papers' will be allowed to appear in one exam centre and candidates applying via Paper I and II separately will get different exam centres allotted during the time of examination.)
- Click on the link 'Click Here for New Registration'.
- Enter details such as name, password, mobile number, and email ID.
- Click on the 'Submit'.
- Once the registration is done, proceed with filling up the application form.
- Login and proceed to enter the personal information, eligibility criteria, educational qualification, and address.
- Carefully check the entered details and click on 'Submit'.
- Click on 'Payment and Declaration to submit the application fee and click on 'Submit'.
- Save and download it for future reference.
Odisha TET 2024: Application fees
- SC/ST: Rs 600 for single paper, Rs 900 for both papers
- Other categories: Rs 900 for a single paper, Rs 1400 for both papers
