CLAT 2025 Notification soon: Check eligibility, exam date, pattern, how to apply, more

CLAT 2025 Notification will be soon released by the Consortium of National Law Universities (Consortium of NLUs). Candidates preparing for the CLAT 2025 can check the exam date, pattern, participating universities list and other details about the exam process.

The Consortium of National Law Universities (Consortium of NLUs) has scheduled the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2025 for December 1. As per the official intimation, the exam will be conducted from 2 PM to 4 PM. The CLAT 2025 exam schedule was released after the meeting held on April 26. As of now, the exam authority has not released detailed information about the exam process, the candidates are advised to stay tuned to the official website for the latest updates. 

It is expected that CLAT 2025 notification will be released soon. However, there is no official confirmation on the release of the exam schedule. The CLAT 2025 information bulletin brochure will include the registration dates, how to apply, exam date, pattern and other details. Once it is released, candidates will be able to apply for the law entrance exam accordingly.

"The Executive Committee and the Governing Body of the Consortium of National Law Universities (the “Consortium”) at their Meetings held on April 26, 2024, decided that the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2025 shall be conducted on Sunday, December 1, 2024, from 2 PM-4 PM. Further details regarding the syllabus, application and counselling process shall be released shortly," states the official notice.

What is CLAT?

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is conducted for admission in five-year integrated LLB and LLM courses at the National Law Universities (NLUs).

Who is eligible for CLAT?

Candidates willing to appear in the law entrance exam must meet the eligibility conditions prescribed by the NLU consortium. The eligibility criteria for CLAT as follows:

  • For UG - Candidates should have passed class 12 with at least 45 per cent marks. (40 percent in the case of SC and ST)
  • For PG - Candidates should have passed LLB with at least 50 per cent marks. (45% in the case of SC and ST candidates)
  • Age Limit: There is no age limit for appearing in the CLAT exam. Candidates can attempt the law entrance at any age or any number of times.

CLAT 2024-25: How to register online?

It is expected that the CLAT 2025 registration process will start tentatively in the first week of July. However, there is no exact date and time specified by the exam authority. Candidates can register themselves on the CLAT's official website by following the mentioned steps:

  1.  Visit the official website consortiumofnlus.ac.in.
  2.  Click on the registration tab.
  3.  Fill in the necessary details including name, password, and contact details. 
  4.  Click on the register button to finish the registration process.
  5.  On successful registration process, candidates can proceed with the CLAT 2025 application form process
  6.  Click on 'Apply for CLAT.'
  7.  Fill in all the personal information, communication details, academic details, and other information as required in the application form including documents like photograph, signature and category certificate(if required). 
  8.  After that, you can select the preferred course. 
  9. Then, click on submit. 
  10. Save it for future reference.

Exam Pattern

The exams will be held for UG candidates on current affairs including general knowledge, logical reasoning, legal reasoning and quantitative techniques, and English language. For PG candidates, the questions will comprise constitutional law including other areas of law like jurisprudence, criminal law, property law, family law, administrative law, company law, public international law, tax law, law of contracts, torts, environmental law, and labour and industrial law.
