India's new sprint sensation, Hima Das has secured first division in Class 12 examination under the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (HSLC), the results of which were declared on Saturday.
She secured a total of 349 marks out of 500 with letter marks (80 or above) in Assamese language.
Coming straight from her athletics training in Turkey, Hima appeared for Class 12 board exam in February after a year's gap. She gave her exam at the Dhing College in Nagaon, about 120 km from Guwahati.
Hima chose to shuttle between the exam centre and the Sports Authority of India (SAI) hostel in Guwahati, instead at home, to train whenever she managed time off from studies.
The Arjuna award winner holds a record in 400 metres with a timing of 50.79 seconds that she clocked at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Hima is the first Indian athlete to win a gold medal in a track event at the IAAF World U20 Championships.
This year, a total of 1,34,496 students appeared for the HS examination in the Arts stream. Out of those students, 44,377 were males and 57,696 were females. The pass percentage among the male candidates stands at 76.29 and female at 82.09.
Assam 12th Result 2019 was announced on May25 at the AHSEC official website ahsec.nic.in.
