The water crisis in Delhi remained unresolved, even aggravated amid a severe heatwave raging in the national capital region. People, irked by a shortage of water, were resorting to violence. Three persons got injured in a dispute over filling water from a common tap in Dwarka. Police on Sunday said two PCR calls were received over a fight in Sector 23, Dwarka and a team was sent to the spot for investigation.
"Initially, we found out that three people were injured due to the dispute and they were shifted to Indira Gandhi Hospital for treatment," a senior police officer said.
Police said two cross FIRs were registered on statements of both parties.
AAP MLAs urge Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Paatil to intervene
On the political front, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party and Opposition parties - Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress engaged in the usual political slugfest achieving no fruitful goals as the issue was snowballing with the passage of days.
A delegation of AAP MLAs on Sunday submitted a letter to Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Paatil, urging him to provide immediate relief to Delhi residents by ensuring that Haryana supplies water to the national capital.
AAP MLA Dilip Pandey said the water crisis in Delhi is getting more serious with each passing moment.
There is severe heat and in this scorching heat, water is life, Pandey said, adding that water crisis means life crisis.
The AAP leader said that all the party MLAs wrote a letter to the Union Jal Shakti Minister on Saturday, emailed and messaged all his public and personal phone numbers and told him that there is a serious water crisis in Delhi. The AAP leader said Paatil was not there at his residence.
Delhi BJP holds 'matka phod' protest
The BJP held a 'matka phod' protest on Sunday against the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government over the water crisis in the city.
Under the leadership of Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva, party leaders and workers protested at 14 locations in the city over water shortage.
Accusing the government of mismanagement, Sachdeva said, "We have always maintained that the water shortage in Delhi is not due to natural causes but is a result of the mismanagement and negligence of the Aam Aadmi Party."
