DCW Chief Swati Maliwal on Saturday made shocking revelations alleging her father sexually assaulted her when she was a child. Swati Maliwal expressed her ordeal and claimed that her father sexually assaulted and used to beat her. Further Maliwal claimed that she used to hide under the bed because of fear. This trauma led her to fight for the rights of women, Maliwal claimed.

Speaking to reporters after the DCW International Women's Day Awards ceremony here, Maliwal said she faced abuse till the time she was in Class 4.

Swati Maliwal expressed her ordeal alleging her father sexually assaulted her during childhood, 'I was sexually assaulted by my father when I was a child. He used to beat me up, I used to hide under the bed.'

'I will teach a lesson to such men' says Maliwal

"While hiding under the bed, I used to think how I will teach a lesson to such men who abuse women and children, and how I can help women get their rights," she said.

Narrating her ordeal, Maliwal said that her father would grab her by her braid and slam her against the wall, leading to severe bleeding. "This happened till I was in Class 4," she recalled.

Recently, actor and National Commission for Women (NCW) member Khushbu Sundar said she was sexually abused by her father at the age of 8

Swati Maliwal and Controversies

Swati Maliwal has been in controversy for various reasons. The Delhi High Court on Friday stayed the trial court proceedings against DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal in a criminal case for allegedly abusing her official position to appoint people associated with the AAP to different posts in the women's rights body.

While issuing notice and seeking a status report from the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Maliwal’s petition challenging the trial court order framing charges under the anti-corruption law, Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani observed the “essential ingredient” of receiving any pecuniary gain was not present in the matter.

Once her house was attacked

Once her house was also attacked and she and her mother’s cars were vandalized. Maliwal tweeted that someone tried to enter her home and damaged vehicles parked at her residence and she and her mother were not present at the home when the incident took place.

Maliwal was dragged by a car

On January 19, DCW Maliwal claimed that she was dragged by a car for 10-15 meters, near gate no. 2 of the All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).  According to Delhi Police, while she was reprimanding the driver after he asked her to sit in his car, her hand got stuck in the car's window. Driver Harish Chandra suddenly pulled up the glass window.

"Accused, Harish Chandra was in an inebriated state and has been arrested. FIR has been filed. A medical examination of the accused and victim was done. The incident happened when Swati Maliwal was standing on a footpath with her team standing near her at the same location," Delhi Police had said.
