Lok Sabha Elections 2024: India TV Chairman and Editor-in-Chief Rajat Sharma along with his wife and channel's Managing Director Ritu Dhawan cast their vote in Delhi in the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024.
Speaking after exercising his franchise, Rajat Sharma said, "Lok Sabha elections determine the country's pride. In this election, the big issues are - who can give us better internal security, protect the nation from outside forces, and who can maintain the country's self-respect."
"So I say this again and again that for democracy, and a strong government, people should not care for extreme weather (heatwave and rising temperature) and must come out of their homes and cast their vote," Rajat Sharma said.
Encouraging voters to participate in the festival of democracy, India TV's Managing Director Ritu Dhawan said that democracy, development, and progress all factors are equally important, so every voter has to decide by themselves on which agenda they should cast their vote.
On low voter turnout in some states and constituencies, Ritu Dhawan said that this is not a good trend. "Sitting at home, criticising governments, the system is very easy but coming out in extreme weather, taking out time from a busy schedule is our responsibility and if we don't do this then we have no right to pass any political comment or participate in political discussions," she added.
Polling in 58 constituencies including Delhi is underway in the sixth phase today. After phase 6, the election in the seventh and last phase will take place on June 1 and the results of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 will be declared on June 4.
