New Delhi Election Results 2024: New Delhi is one of the Lok Sabha constituencies in Delhi. The state has 7 parliamentary seats. The New Delhi seat comprises ten Assembly segments including Karolbagh, Patel Nagar, Moti Nagar, Delhi Cantt, Rajinder Nagar, New Delhi, Kasturba Nagar, Malviya Nagar, Rk Puram and Greater Kailash. BJP's Bansuri Swaraj won New Delhi seat, defeating AAP's Somnath Bharti by a margin of over 78,000 votes.

New Delhi Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Date of polls

The New Delhi constituency in Delhi went to polls in the sixth phase on May 25 along with the other six Lok Sabha constituencies of the state. Overall, voters in 58 constituencies of 8 states and Union Territories across the country used their franchise in the sixth phase.

New Delhi Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Voter turnout

According to the Election Commission, a voter turnout of 55.43 per cent was recorded in the New Delhi Constituency.

The results of the New Delhi constituency in Delhi were out on June 4 along with the other 542 parliamentary constituencies of the country.  

New Delhi Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Main parties and candidates

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are the main parties in the constituency. BJP leader Bansuri Swaraj, AAP leader Somnath Bharti and BSP leader Raaj Kumar Anand were the main candidates in New Delhi constituency of Delhi. 

Notably, the Congress-AAP are contesting the Lok Sabha elections in Delhi in alliance. The AAP contested on four seats while three were allotted to Congress. The four seats on which AAP contested the Lok Sabha polls were New Delhi, West Delhi, South Delhi, and East Delhi. The Congress' seat were North West Delhi, North East Delhi and Chandni Chowk seats.

New Delhi Lok Sabha Elections 2014 and 2019

In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Meenakashi Lekhi from BJP won the seat with a margin of 256,504 votes. Meenakashi Lekhi was polled 504,206 votes with a vote share of 55.00 per cent and defeated Ajay Makan from Congress who got 247,702 votes (26.91 per cent). 

In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Meenakashi Lekhi from BJP won the seat and was polled 453,350 votes with a vote share of 46.73 per cent. AAP candidate Ashish Khetan got 290,642 votes (29.96 per cent) and was the runner-up.Meenakashi Lekhi defeated Ashish Khetan by a margin of 162,708 votes
