Yamuna River water level: The Yamuna River in the national capital is flowing above the danger mark, at 205.98 metres, officials said today (July 27). The administration earlier asked the people residing near river bank to go to safer places or relief camps. Notably, the danger mark of the Yamuna is 205.33 meters.
The water level at the Old Railway Bridge has been hovering around the danger mark after reaching an all-time high of 208.66 metres on July 13. It breached the threshold again on Wednesday following heavy rain in parts of the national capital, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
According to the Central Water Commission, the level at the Old Railway Bridge stood at 205.99 metres at 9 pm and is expected to reach 205.65 metres by 4 am. The flow rate at the Yamunanagar-located Hathnikund barrage oscillated between 28,000 and 41,000 cusecs on Thursday.
The ongoing relief and rehabilitation work in the flood-affected low-lying areas of the national capital has been affected due to the intermittent rain keeping the Yamuna's water level close to the danger mark.
Hindon river update:
In the National Capital Region (NCR), the Hindon River also witnessed a rise in the water level. The area near Ecotech 3 got submerged following the surged water level due to which many vehicles got stuck in the water. Earlier, Yamuna's water level in Delhi dropped below the danger mark on Tuesday, the level was recorded at 205.32 metres at 7 pm.
On Monday, the water level in Yamuna was at 206.56 metres, above the danger level mark. The rise in water level has been a matter of concern as it has led to a flood-like situation in the national capital and adjoining regions.
The river water level had been hovering around the danger mark of 205.33 metres for the last few days after reaching an all-time high of 208.66 metres on July 13.
