Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal targeted Delhi Minister Atishi on Tuesday after the latter was hospitalised and ended her indefinite fast. She said that strength for Satyarah comes from struggle and not by "speaking ill and lies about people."

In a post on X, Swati Maliwal said, "Atishi ji, Gandhi ji had named the sacred method of fasting as Satyagraha. Satyagraha is always done with a true and pure heart." Drawing a parallel with her hunger strikes, she further said, "I fasted twice. Once for 10 days and once for 13 days. After my fast, a law was made in the country that child rapists should be given the death penalty."

"The path of struggle is very difficult. The strength to go on a hunger strike is gained only by struggling on the ground for many years. Not by saying lies and dirty things about others the whole day. Well, I hope your health will improve soon and you will work for the people of Delhi", she added.

Atishis' hunger strike ends

Notably, Atishi was on a hunger strike since June 21. She accused the Haryana government of not releasing a sufficient share of Delhi's water, exacerbating the already worsened water crisis in Delhi. She demanded that the Haryana government release the water for Delhi, Meanwhile, the Haryana government denounced her claims and said that it is maintaining an adequate supply of water to the national capital. Following the strife, she started her indefinite hunger strike until the release of water from Haryana. However, her health deteriorated and was hospitalised in LNJP hospital later.

Meanwhile, Swati Maliwal's attack on Atishi comes amid the judicial fight between her and Arvind Kejriwal's former aide Bibhav Kumar. Maliwal accused Bibhav Kumar of beating her in the drawing room of the Chief Minister's residence during the early morning of May 13. After the incident, AAP turned its back on Swati Maliwal. On behalf of AAP, Atishi took to helm against Swati, defending Bibhav Kumar and accusing her of working on BJP's indications.
