New Delhi: The public works department of Delhi will begin repair work on the Sarita Vihar flyover starting June 15, lasting for two months, officials said on Tuesday. During the two-month repair period, the carriageway from Ashram to Badarpur will be closed in the first phase, likely leading to traffic snarls on the entire stretch.
The flyover, which is part of Mathura Road, connects southeast Delhi to Faridabad in Haryana. From June 15 to August 15, one side of the flyover from Ashram to Badarpur will be closed for repairs, but the other side will remain open for vehicular movement around the clock, the officials said.
The department has already received a no-objection certificate to carry out the repair work, which will include replacing expansion joints and bearings, they said.
A senior Delhi Police officer confirmed that they have issued the necessary NOC to the department. The officer mentioned that commuters would face traffic issues on the stretch during the repair work. Police advised travellers heading to railway stations, airports, and ISBTs to plan their journeys accordingly.
Mathura Road, including stretches like Ashram Chowk, frequently experiences traffic issues. In May, traffic restrictions and diversions were implemented on the Naraina flyover from Naraina to Raja Garden due to similar repair work.
