While the heavy rains on Friday brought much-needed relief to Delhiites from the intense heat, they also sparked a war of words between the centre ruling BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), as the national capital once again faced severe waterlogging, causing significant difficulties for citizens.
Significantly, several parts of the city on Friday were inundated with water, making it challenging for commuters to walk or even drive their cars as the water-logging situation prevails everywhere. Shocking visuals from the different parts of Delhi have also been circulating since morning where rescue efforts by the officials are being held to evacuate people stuck in middle, due to water logging situation.
Further, amid the present situation, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla criticized the AAP-run Delhi government after waterlogging was reported in various areas following the early morning downpour.
Poonawalla pointed out that waterlogging occurred at the Minto Bridge, a site the AAP had previously claimed to have fixed. Other affected areas included Munirka, Azad Market underpass, Lodhi Estate, Raisina Road, Firozeshah Road, Safdarjung, AIIMS, Moolchand, Kartavya Path, Madhu Vihar, Bhikaji Cama Place metro station, Mandawali, Mehrauli Badarpur Road, Shanti Path, Teen Murti Marg, Connaught Place, Moti Bagh, and Dhaula Kuan.
Taking to X, Poonawalla said, "Hope you have saved this tweet. Delhi is facing severe waterlogging in several areas including Minto Bridge (which AAP claimed they had fixed). AAP runs Delhi Jal Board, PWD, MCD. Everything is under AAP. But watch them blame someone else in 3, 2, 1..."
He further also took a dig at Delhi Water Minister and AAP leader Atishi, saying, "One day of rainfall & AAP model stands exposed Water logging outside residence of Atishi - PWD minister ! Who will she do dharna against?"
Further, vehicular movement was also notably impacted in several parts of Delhi, particularly at the ITO crossing.
