Teenager held for sending bomb threat mail to Delhi Police Headquarters

Delhi news: A teenage boy was caught for allegedly sending an email to the Delhi Police headquarters saying that a bomb was planted in the outer Delhi's Nangloi area, police said today (May 3).

After a thorough checking in the area, the sender, who turned out to be a teenage boy, was caught. He was counselled by the police before being handed over to his parents.

The Delhi Police Headquarters on Jai Singh Road in central Delhi is about 18 kilometers away from Nangloi.

The PHQ in a statement said, "the sender is an immature child and therefore, in his interest and in compliance of the mandate of JJ Act, details of his identity cannot be shared."
"The mail was sent as an act of mischief. The juvenile, after proper counseling, has been handed over to his parents," it added.

Delhi Police headquarters on Jai Singh Marg received a bomb threat email, however, it turned out to be a hoax, an official said today (May 3), adding that a juvenile was identified. The email mentioned the threat to the Nangloi area of the national capital.

Sharing the details, a senior police official said that an email threat of a bomb was received via email in PHQ and the sender of this email was traced. "He is an immature child and therefore, in his interest and in compliance with the mandate of the JJ Act, details of his identity cannot be shared," said the official.

"The mail was sent as an act of mischief; the juvenile, after proper counselling, has been handed over to his parents," the official added.

This comes days after around 125 bomb threat calls were received from different schools in NCR region at emergency helpline number 112 from 5.47 am to 2.13 pm on Wednesday (May 1).
