Days after a minor complaint of molestation by a male passenger aboard a Delhi metro, the police said they had apprehended the accused on Thursday. Identified as Jitendra Gautam, the Delhi Police Metro unit said the accused was nabbed from Khera Khurd village after examining CCTV footage of 15 metro stations.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the Delhi Police broke the news of the arrest. It said, "Following a minor boy's complaint on X regarding molestation by a male passenger on Delhi Metro, #DelhiPolice @DCP_DelhiMetro sprung into action and nabbed the accused with the help of CCTV footage of 15 metro stations."

It is pertinent to note that the alleged incident of molestation happened last week at Rajiv Chowk metro station. A 16-year-old boy shared in a series of posts that he was sexually assaulted and chased by a man in Delhi Metro.

Teen shares ordeal

Bhavya (the name mentioned) took to X and shared the incident that left him "terrified." "I just got assaulted in Delhi metro right now at Rajiv Chowk Metro Station. I am a 16-year-old boy, and I was travelling alone in the metro. My original post was on Reddit, and people told me to post here and tag Delhi police, so I'm doing this," he wrote.

Further, elaborating more on the ordeal he faced on May 4,  the teen alleged that the accused assaulted him three times, but for the third time, he "grabbed his (accused) hair and clicked a picture of him." The boy added, "I was scared and shaking, but I did it anyway. After that, I waited a while there, and he tried to argue, but nothing happened.".

Moreover, Bhavya informed that it was with the help of a metro station guard that he boarded another metro safely. He said that the incident had made him feel 'numb'.

Meanwhile, the post has garnered more than 27,000 views on X, with people extending support to the teen. A user commented on the post, "Please inform your parents and take more serious actions. All the power to you! For speaking up, for acting brave, and for asking for help! Now you should have to let your parents know."

"I need hard action against this type of person. Because if this type of criminal fearlessly does anything in the capital city, then what is going on in the rest of the remote country probably?" another user commented.
