The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday once again took a swipe at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over the Swati Maliwal assault incident and questioned Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's role in it. In a press briefing, BJP MP and party's national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi stated that the events occurring within the Chief Minister's residence revealed their true nature to such an extent that, even eight days after the incident, numerous questions persist in the minds of Delhi's residents.

The BJP spokesperson also slammed the Delhi Chief Minister for making false promises to the people of Delhi. "Kejriwal ji, you are the same leader who used to say that I will live in a 3-room house and my house will remain open 24 hours. Anyone can come and meet us anytime but today he is staying in his 'Sheesh Mehal' and meeting people only after appointments. He told his member of Parliament that since there was no appointment, I would not meet her," Trivedi said.

Trivedi also questioned how Bibhav Kumar was present inside the Chief Minister's residence, given that he currently holds no government or political position. Trivedi demanded to see proof of Kumar's appointment, asking where it was listed. If there was no such appointment, Trivedi inquired, in what capacity was Kumar inside the CM's residence?

Kejriwal's silence shows dual standards: Nadda

Earlier on Monday, BJP president JP Nadda had attacked Kejriwal over the alleged assault on Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal alleging that his silence clearly shows his "double character and dual standards". "The foundation of this party (AAP) and the leader is rooted in lies since the beginning. They have lied on every occasion. This incident (Maliwal's assault) somehow came to light that is why it has come to our attention. We don't know how many such incidents have taken place with others," Nadda said.

SIT formed to probe Swati Maliwal assault case

It should be mentioned here that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to investigate the Swati Maliwal case, a week after the AAP Rajya Sabha MP accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's former personal secretary Bibhav Kumar of assaulting her. The SIT is headed by North Delhi's Additional Deputy Commissioner Of Police (DCP) Anjitha Chepyala who has been handling the investigation. Three Inspector-rank officers are also included in the SIT, which includes the officer of Civil Lines Police Station where the case was registered.
