'Swati Maliwal's allegations baseless, conspiracy by BJP to frame Arvind Kejriwal,' claims Atishi

Swati Maliwal assault case: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) minister Atishi on Friday claimed that allegations levelled by the party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal in the alleged assault case at Delhi Chief Minister's residence by his Personal Assistant (PA) Bibhav Kumar are 'baseless' adding it's a conspiracy by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to frame Arvind Kejriwal.

"Ever since Arvind Kejriwal has got bail, the BJP is rattled. Due to this, the BJP hatched a conspiracy, under which Swati Maliwal was sent to Arvind Kejriwal's house on the morning of May 13. Swati Maliwal was the face and pawn of this conspiracy. They intended to accuse the Chief Minister but the CM was not there at that time so he was saved. After that, Swati Maliwal accused Bibhav Kumar (Kejriwal's PA). In her complaint to the police, she said she was assaulted. The video which has come out today shows her sitting comfortably in the drawing room (of the CM house) and threatening the police officials. She was also seen threatening Bibhav Kumar in the video. Neither her clothes were not torn nor any injury on her head can be seen in the video," Atishi said.

Addressing a presser, Atishi further added, "Today a video has come forward from inside the drawing room of CM’s residence, which has disproved Swati Maliwal’s claims. In the video, Maliwal is sitting comfortably in the room and is threatening police officials and abusing Bibhav Kumar. No wound is visible on her head. This video proves that Maliwal’s claims are without basis and not true."

"Kejriwal's PA Bibhav Kumar has filed a case against Swati Maliwal with the Delhi Police today. On May 13, Maliwal had reached CM Arvind Kejriwal's residence early in the morning, without a prior appointment. She threatened police officials at the entrance and entered the campus of CM's residence. Security took her to the waiting room, requesting her multiple times to leave as she did not have an appointment with Kejriwal. What was the reason that she forcefully entered the residence early morning without taking a prior appointment? Later, the staff called Bibhav Kumar. He informed her that the CM was not available that day and could not meet her. Maliwal started arguing loudly with him and tried to move from the drawing room to the inner parts of the house. Bibhav did not let her enter the house and called the security staff to escort Maliwal outside,” Atishi added.

What Swati Maliwal has said in police complaint?

According to the FIR, Swati Maliwal was "kicked and slapped seven to eight times" allegedly by Bibhav Kumar. The FIR also stated that Kumar "did not relent" despite her asking him to stop.

Maliwal has also claimed that Kumar hit her with "full force again and again" but no one came to her rescue. She also alleged that despite telling Kumar that she was menstruating and in pain, he did not budge.

Atishi said the video shows Maliwal "comfortably sitting in the drawing room" and "threatening the security staff", and that "her clothes were not torn".

"The video shows her threatening Kumar. The charges levelled by Maliwal are baseless. Maliwal insisted on meeting Kejriwal. She is Rajya Sabha MP and she should know that the CM has a busy schedule. Kumar told her that the chief minister is busy and unable to meet her. She shouted at him, pushed him and tried to enter the residential portion of the CM House," she claimed.

"The whole incident proves that it was a BJP conspiracy and Swati Maliwal was made its face to frame Kejriwal," she alleged.

On Tuesday, senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh had said that the incident with Maliwal was "highly condemnable" and had claimed that Kumar had "misbehaved" with her.

When Atishi was asked about Sanjay Singh accepting misbehaviour with Maliwal, she said, "AAP MP Sanjay Singh met Maliwal and he had only her version. But now this video has brought out the truth."
