Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was released from Tihar Jail after getting interim relief from the Supreme Court in the alleged liquor policy scam case, on Friday said that he had promised he would soon come out of the jail and here he was. In his first statements after release from jail, Kejriwal while addressing party workers said that people will end this dictatorship and do justice.

  1. "I said I will come out soon, now I have arrived. Crores of people from across India sent their blessings. I want to thank the judges of the Supreme Court because of whom I am with you all now,” Kejriwal told his supporters after walking out of the prison.
  2. "We all have to come together to save the country... 140 crore people have to fight together against dictatorship," he said.
  3. "We will meet at the Hanuman Mandir in Connaught Place at 11 am on Saturday, before holding a press conference at the party office at 1 pm I thank you all," Kejriwal said.
  4. "It feels nice being among you people...," he said.

"Our country is more than 4,000 years old. But whenever anyone tried to impose dictatorship on this country, people never tolerated it. Today the country is passing through a period of dictatorship. I am fighting against it. But 140 crore people will have to come together and defeat the dictatorship. Tomorrow at 11 am, I will go to the Hanuman Temple at Connaught Place to seek blessings of Lord Hanuman and at 1 pm, we will address a press conference at the party office, and in the evening, I will participate in a roadshow in South Delhi...," Kejriwal said.

As Kejriwal was released, Aam Aadmi Party workers launched a massive celebration by bursting firecrackers.

Kejriwal's 50-day judicial custody came to an end today after the Supreme Court granted him bail till June 1 in the excise policy case.

As per the court order, the AAP supremo -- who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21 -- must surrender before the Tihar Jail authorities by June 2. The final round of the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections is scheduled for June 1, while the results will be out on June 4.
