AAP Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh on Wednesday met party colleague Swati Maliwal amid a row over misbehaving with her by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's personal assistant Bibhav Kumar.

Singh accompanied by Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) member Vandana Singh called on Maliwal at her residence in Delhi, said the sources.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha member and a former chief of the DCW did not make any statement in public since the matter came to light. Police had also visited her residence on Minto Road on Tuesday.

Maliwal on Monday went to the Civil Lines police station and alleged that a member of the Delhi chief minister's personal staff "assaulted" her at the chief minister's official residence, police officials had said. She is yet to file a formal complaint in the matter.

On Tuesday, Sanjay Singh addressed a press conference and officially accepted that Kejriwal took cognizance of the matter and called for strict action. Singh termed the incident with Maliwal a "highly condemnable" one.

BJP stages protest near Delhi CM residence

BJP leaders and workers, including activists of its Mahila Morcha, staged a protest on Wednesday near Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence, demanding a probe into the incident. Virendra Sachdeva, president of Delhi BJP, questioned the silence of Kejriwal over the alleged incident and demanded action against those guilty.

"It's a matter of respect and honour of a woman who has been chief of the Delhi Commission for Women. We are here to support her. AAP leader Sanjay Singh has admitted the incident. Why is not Kejriwal lodging a police complaint against the person who is involved in it," Sachdeva asked.

Sachdeva said the police could launch a probe after confirmation of the incident by Singh. He also urged Maliwal who has maintained complete silence over the incident so far, to come forward to give her statement to the police.
