Ghaziabad, Jan 8: In a daring theft, two servants, Ashok and Amit alias Raju, hailing from Bihar stole Rs 50 lakh cash and Rs 15 lakh worth jewellery from the house of a local BJP leader Ashu Verma in the posh Raj Nagar locality here in December.

On Tuesday, Ghaziabad police recovered Rs 15 lakh cash, arrested one of them, while the other is absconding.

Ashu Verma had appointed both of them, hailing from Supaul, Bihar,  as domestic servants last month. During this time, they recced the entire home, and stole the booty and jewellery in a plastic pail, which they took with them, first to Delhi to a friend's place, and from there to Bihar, said Shivshankar Yadav, SP City.

During interrogation, Ashok disclosed that both of them had carried out thefts at several places in Delhi and Mumbai by posing as domestic servants and then walking off with cash and jewellery.
