On that day, Chamkila and Amarjot arrived in the village Mesumpur in Punjab, for a live performance at a wedding party.
Upon exiting their vehicle, they were shot and fatally wounded, along with some members of their entourage, by armed assailants.
The attackers evaded capture and no charges were laid in connection with the shooting.
