This incident took place as a consequence of death of two children, 5-year-old Mohammed Ali and his sister the 8-year-old Icra Ali, who were rammed over by an express train while they were crossing the tracks from under an unmoving goods train with their parents. They died on the spot.
"The two children were hit by an express train on the adjoining track as soon as they came out," Rajeev Chaudhary, divisional railway manager, told TOI.
Soon after the incident, a huge crowd blocked the station and started protesting. People blamed the incident on the ignorant behaviour of the railways towards providing a safe foot-overbridge to cross the tracks.
According to the sources, the deputy station superintendent Saket Bansal and two other officials took shed inside a room to escape the mob. The agitated crowd set the room on fire. One official died while two others are still fighting for their lives.
"It's a matter of investigation whether they were pushed into the room which was put on fire," said the DRM.
