Dr Lalit Parida, who returned from the US, said, "Such a monstrous father who killed my mother does not deserve to be released".
The sub-divisional judicial magistrate's court in Bhubaneswar has sent Dr Somnath Parida to five days judicial custody. Police is planning to take the retired doctor again to his house in N-1 Nayapalli to reconstruct the crime scene.
The murder, that has sent shock waves across Odisha, is still facing a dead-end. police is yet to ascertain the motive behind the 73-year old retired army doctor taking recourse to such a heinous crime.
With the police still in the dark about motive, the weapon used for the murder is yet to be recovered. Legal experts say, the prosecution's case may not stand up in court, as the police investigation is moving at a snail's pace.
The police has in its custody, 22 tiffins, in which Dr Somnath Parida had carefully put the pieces of his wife's body wrapped in polythene. Investigators are awaiting the arrival of his daughter Lekha, who was to arrive from Dubai, but was facing visa problems.
