Wanted for various cases of rape and murder, Jaishankar was finally arrested in the year 2009 by Tamil Nadu police for raping and murdering a woman constable. He was put behind bars in Coimbatore Central Jail.



Two years later, in 2011, while he was returning from a court hearing in Dharampuri, he managed to escape the arrest. A constable who was in-charge at that time, felt guilty about not being able to stop him, Chinaswamy committed suicide.




Two months later, in the month of May while Jaishankar was hiding in Bijapur district of Karnataka, he was caught by Karnataka police in Zalki town. He had a reward of Rs. 10lakh on his head and it was then when he was diagnosed with mental illness.
