The initial plan of the gang was to hold the girl captive and ask the boy to go for arranging the money. But after a discussion, they released the girl and threatened her to return with the money or else they would kill the boy.

The girl was dropped at a point in the city from where she directly went to the police for help. A plan was made and the girl was asked to hand over the money to the assailants in presence of police. But just when the police was about to nab the assailants, the gang managed to escape.
