Abu Dhabi: Mohammad Riyaz, a 27-year old electrical and communications engineer from India had to spend more than a week in Al Wathba jail after he was arrested at Abu Dhabi airport on what later appeared to be a case of mistaken identity.

Abu Dhabi police had linked his identification records to a man, Mohammad Ali Mohammad, who was deported from the country for crimes committed 11 years ago, Gulf News reported.

Mohammad Riyaz was taken into custody on October 20 at Abu Dhabi Airport on his way back from a vacation. Police shaved his head and treated him like criminal.
