On January 21 evening, the girl was forcibly taken away from her home, gangraped and thrown away in a critical condition.
The matter was reported at Labhpur police station on January 22, after which she was first taken to the block health centre and from there she was admitted to Suri district hospital the same night.
Additional superintendent of police Prashanta Choudhury visited the village and arrested the 'pradhan' (called modal by tribals) Balai Mandi and three others.
Police conducted house-to-house search in the village till late in the night and nabbed all the rapists.
The victim's family alleged in their police complaint that the gang rape was ordered after a community meeting in which the leaders decided to punish their daughter for having a relationship with a man outside her community.
