"Though he had left his two-wheeler outside the building, Vijayan escaped by jumping from the third floor of the 'F' wing in the quarters after he panicked on hearing a nearby doorbell ring.

" His bike keys fell out of his pocket in the process, forcing him to leave the vehicle behind.

" Having sustained injuries from the jump, he hailed an auto from the main road to a nearby clinic, where he got treatment and went home," explained city police commissioner Raghavendra H Auradkar.
 
Five teams had been formed to crack the murder, one of which began checking various hospitals and clinics in the vicinity, presuming that the suspect would have taken treatment for his injuries after jumping down from the building.

Another team rushed to the concerned RTO where the suspect's two-wheeler was registered, and got his details.
