Mathura's infuriated brother lodged a complaint with police alleging that Ashok and his family had kidnapped his minor sister. Following the police complaint, Ashok and his family were brought to the police station.

Mathura along with her brother were called to the police station and after few rounds of questioning, Ashok, his family, Mathura's brother, all were allowed to go home. But two policemen, Tukaram and Ganpat asked Mathura to stay back and rest of the people were asked to wait outside.
