Another famous letter by “Jack the Ripper” was the letter "From Hell", received by George Lusk of the Whitechapel Vigilance Committee. The envelope also included half of a preserved human kidney, supposedly from one of the victims. Mainly because of the extraordinarily brutal character of the murders, and because of media treatment of the events, the perception gained ground that all these murders were the handiwork of a single serial killer who was given the name "Jack the Ripper.
