Mumbai police had been tracing Jigna's activities since July 4, 2011 after a conversation between Manoj, the brother of Vinod Asrani and Chotta Rajan was intercepted by Mumbai police.

Jigna was accused of providing Dey's information like his address and the number of his motorcycle. Jigna's professional rivalry with Dey was thought to be the motive behind her assistance.

She was released on bail on July 27th 2012, citing the reason that she was a single parent and had a child to take care of. Also, she did not have a previous criminal record.
