These suspects, who were allegedly from Chhota Rajan gang, were trying to escape arrest and had fled to different place to evade police.
All the suspects resided in Mumbai except for one, Satish Kalia who had moved to Trivandrum after his daughter's birth.
According to the police, Kalia was contacted by Chhota Rajan to execute the shootout. Kalia organized the team and he was the one to shoot Dey.
Next year, on Feb 21, Jigna Vora, the Deputy Chief of Bureau of Asian Age was accused by Mumbai Crime Branch. She was booked under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) based on her role in the murder. She was also charged with other sections of IPC which included criminal conspiracy, murder and destruction of evidence.
