The same morning, Nitish's mother, Neelam filed an FIR and based on Neelam and Bharti's testimony arrest warrants were issued against Vishal and Vikas. Both were arrested a few days later from their hideout.

The trail that followed the arrests was a dramatic one with many witnesses turning hostile. In the initial stages inspector Ashok Bidhoria, who had arrested both the accused confessed in his testimony that both of them had admitted their crime but he changed his statement during a cross-examination.
