Both Vikas and Vishal Yadav had a criminal history and the influential background they hailed from was turning the majority of witnessed hostile.

However, after six years of the incident, both Vishal and Vikas were sentenced to life imprisonment by Delhi fast track court in 2008. They were also fined with Rs. 1,60,000.
