Gurgaon police ASI caught red-handed taking Rs 20K bribe

Gurgaon: Haryana vigilance officials today arrested an ASI Ashok Kumar red handed at the New Colony police outpost while taking Rs 20,000 bribe from a cloth merchant Rishi Kumar.




According to the complainant Rishi Kumar, he had a quarrel with his estranged wife on August 20 in which his wife got injuries. She filed an FIR after which Rishi Kumar and his father Gopal Das had to spend a day in jail.

ASI Ashok Kumar demanded Rs 1.5 lakh bribe for release of Rishi Kumar's mother and two relatives and a deal was struck for Rs 40,000. Rishi Kumar paid Rs 20,000, and was to pay the remaining amount today, but he reported the matter to Vigilance.

During the Vigilance raid, the ASI tried to escape on a motorbike, but was caught by police.
