The first ever case of honour killing in Kolkata was registered when a brother beheaded his sister publicly.
According to police, Mehtab Alam, a 29-year-old trader in Kolkata discovered that his younger sister Nilofer Bibi, who was married and had two kids, was staying with a rickshaw puller.
Alam got furious, went to the rickshaw puller's house, where he dragged out his sister and beheaded her with a sword. He then took the dead body to the police station and surrendered.
Even before his surrender, he terrified the local people as he was carrying his sister's head in one hand.
Even after the gruesome act, Alam showed no remorse. He said that he had punished her sister for an extra marital affair.
