
New Delhi, Jan 12: Thieves entered the government flat of Ruchira Pant, director general, export promotion in Finance Ministry, in Kidwai Nagar on Wednesday afternoon, and decamped with lakhs of rupees worth ornaments, police said.
Ruchira's husband is director general, Technical Services, Uttarakhand police.
The burglary took place when Ruchira Pant left for office in the morning. When she returned to her residence she found the lock broken and the house ransacked.
Police said Ruchira Pant had kept cash alongwith the ornaments inside her almirah, but the burglars did not touch the cash.
"Preliminary investigations suggest that someone had recced the house and found out the entry and exit timings of the victim. The accused also seemed to know about the whereabouts of the family members. They knew that the couple's daughter had gone to Dehradun," police said.
