Meanwhile, Surjit Kaur, a resident of Mehram Nagar, was passing by with her brother. Rajni, who somehow managed to make some noise, screamed for help which was heard by Surjit. She ran for help and when the three attackers saw her coming, they left Rajni and fled the place.
While the attackers were fleeing the place, Rajni called the PCR van at around 8.20 pm but once again tainting the image of Delhi police, the PCR reached at 9.15pm.
According to Rajni's husband, instead of attending to the victim and getting hold of the criminals, the police was busy clearing the crowd from the crime scene.
In fact, the much hyped Delhi Police Women helpline number was also unsuccessful in providing any immediate assistance to the victim.
