Delhi Metro security doubled after warning of 26/11 like attack

New Delhi: A warning  was  issued by Military Intelligence alerting  authorities of a possible terrorist attack on Delhi Metro on December 31.


The alert warned of the attack which could be similar to the one at Taj Hotel in Mumbai on 26/11 and can take place in the first 10 days of January. As a safety measure, the security deployed at the Delhi Metro has been doubled.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) already has over 5000 security personnel deployed across 140 metro stations. After receiving the alert, the shift timings of the personnel have been increased.

Stations which have inter-change facilities like Ashok Park Main, Inderlok, Kirti Nagar, Rajiv Chowk, Kashmere Gate and Central Secretariat have been given special attention.

Extra Quick Reaction Teams have also been deployed along with dog squads and bomb disposal squads whose shift timings have also been increased.
