New Delhi: Crimes against women are taking place throughout the globe. There has been increase in the number of rape cases, honour killings, murders for dowry and instances of female infanticide in several countries.

These are crimes which cause pain and a hunger for justice but this story of 44-days of torture of an innocent girl in Japan would make anyone's heart wrench and a shiver goes through the spine.

Twenty-five years back, in 1988,  Japan was shaken  when a 16-year old girl, Junko Furuta was not only abducted and raped multiple times but was also made to endure inhuman activities which the innocent girl could not survive beyond a period of 44 days.
