Jalandhar: Komal, a carpenter's wife in Avatar Nagar, hanged herself on Sunday, after her husband found that she was involved in an illicit relationship with a nearby hair cutting saloon owner.

Her husband confronted her after which Komal committed suicide, police said.

The body of the 24-year old woman was sent for post mortem to Civil Hospital. The police went to the saloon to arrest the owner but he had by then absconded. Some of the barbers working at the saloon were  taken into custody.

Carpenter Ajay Kumar told the police that he had married Komal four years ago. Komal's father had passed away and she was the only daughter.

Komal's father-in-law, who is an auto driver, said, he and his son went to work like every day on Sunday. When he returned home in the evening, he opened the main gate and entered the house. He found Komal's room locked from inside. He knocked the room but nobody answered. He called in the neighbors. They then went inside and found Komal hanging from the ceiling fan.
