The thief snatched the mangalsutra from her neck and jumped off the running train. He was probably unaware that a cop was also traveling in the same compartment and saw the chain-snatcher.

The female cop Sheetal Narayan Pol in a reflex action, ran after the thief and jumped from the speeding train without thinking about her life and chased him till she retrieved the jewellery from him.

"Sheetal was returning home from her duty at Kala Ghoda Arts Festival. She is attached to the Local Arms unit in Worli of the Mumbai Police,” said a police officer.

The brave constable's name has been recommended for a reward of Rs 5,000 from the Mumbai CST Government Railway Police (GRP) for her heroic act.
