Forty-six-year-old Mahajan, a resident of Paper Market in Delhi's Gazipur area died on Monday, days after he was attacked with an axe. According to the police, a quarrel between Mahajan and his neighbours errupted on Saturday, when the neighbours claimed Mahajan and his wife had beaten up their dog.
A labourer by profession, Mahajan was rushed to Lal Bahadur Shashtri Hospital following the incident, from where he was referred to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
A case was filed by the wife of the deceased, in which she had stated that on Saturday her neighbour started shouting at her and her husband and claimed that the couple had beaten their dog.
Soon, a quarrel erupted between her husband and Bipai Lal (neighbour).
Thereafter, Lal's son Suresh, also a daily labourer, threatened Mahajan and attacked him with an axe, police said.
According to the police, a case into the incident was registered and the accused was arrested. The axe used in the crime was also recovered.
