A 17-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by a group of six men in Andhra Pradesh's Ongole district. According to local media reports, the girl was kept captive and was brutally gang-raped for a week.
The accused dumped the minor at the bus station and threatened her not to reveal what had happened. The incident came to light after the victim disclosed her ordeal to the personnel at the police post.
The victim who hails from Nellapadu in Guntur district befriended Ramu when her father was undergoing treatment hospital in Vijayawada.
They two were in touch on the phone for months. According to reports, the girl ran away from home to meet Ramu in Ongole on June 16 after her mother chided her.
When was unable to find Ramu, a man offered to help her find him and sent her with a differently-abled man.
He kept her in a room and promised to find Ramu. later, he started sexually assaulted her. She was repeatedly gang-raped by five others on the following days.
On the basis of the minor's complaint, all six accused have been arrested. Among all 6 accused, 3 are minors.
"This is a heinous crime and we will take deterrent steps to ensure such incidents did not recur," said the Home Minister.A case has been registered under IPC sections 343 (wrongful confinement), 376(D) (gangrape) and section 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012.
