A 28-year-old Dalit youth was lynched to death in Rajasthan's Alwar district by an angry mob reportedly in the wake of a road accident. According to reports, the victim was riding two-wheeler when the deceased, identified as Harish Jatav, accidentally rammed his vehicle into an elderly lady.
Soon after the incident, Jatav was surrounded by a group of locals who beat him to death in broad daylight. The incident took place when Jatav, who hails from Dalit community, was crossing through Jihrana village when suddenly he lost control of his bike and accidentally rammed into an elderly woman.
Angry locals mercilessly thrashed and left Jatav on the street in a pool of blood. The deceased was then rushed to a local health care centre and was later referred to the Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi where he succumbed to severe head injuries incurred during the assault.
The victim's father, Rati Ram told media that villagers killed his son because he accidentally hit an old lady with his two-wheeler. "I want absolute justice," says the grieving father.
Meanwhile, Harish Jatav’s body has been sent for post-mortem. A case has been registered under the Chopanki Police Station and the investigation into the matter is underway.
