NEW DELHI, August 27, 2009: A distinguished jury comprising leading journalists, media marketers and eminent citizens has announced India TV Chairman and Editor-in-Chief as “News Television Entrepreneur of the Year.” The Indian News Broadcasting (INB) Award, which recognizes Mr Sharma’s entrepreneurial and journalistic leadership, assumes added significance in view of what he achieved in a year of economic slow down.
In a keynote address prior to the INB News Television Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Mr Sharma emphasized that policy makers and thought leaders should view Hindi news channels with a fresh perspective, shorn of dated assumptions on their content.
Newsrooms of leading Hindi news channels are committed to the credo, “ratings with responsibility,” the industry thought-leader said.
Mr Sharma serves on the boards of Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF) and the News Broadcasters Association (NBA).
India TV follows a policy of staying away from sending entries to awards.
