Balrampur: A teenage boy and girl were found hanging from a tree in a village in Chhattisgarh's Balrampur district, police said on Monday. According to the police, both were in a relationship and the duo committed suicide by hanging themselves.
Police officials said that the bodies of a 15-year-old girl, a student of class 10, and a 17-year-old boy were found hanging from a tree on the banks of a river in Dhandhapur village under the Rajpur police station area of the district. "Prima facie, the circumstantial evidence suggests the duo committed suicide by hanging themselves," said police.
According to officials, a shepherd on Sunday evening spotted them hanging from the tree and informed villagers who then alerted the police.
No suicide not found
An official said that the boy, a resident of Baghima village in the district, lived with his aunt. During the interrogation, it was revealed that the two had known each other for some time, and the girl's family was angry about their relationship.
It appeared to be a case of suicide, though the exact reason for it was yet to be determined, the official said.
No suicide note was found so far, he added, mentioning that the bodies were sent for postmortem and an investigation into the incident is underway.
