The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday released its fourth and final list of candidates for Chhattisgarh elections. With this, the BJP has declared its candidates for all 90 Assembly constituencies in Chhattisgarh. Rajesh Agarwal to challenge Congress leader and Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister TS Singh Deo from Ambikapur while Sushant Shukla to contest from Beltara. Dhaniram Dhivar has been fielded from the Kasdol constituency and Dipesh Sahu is contesting from Bemetara.
With this announcement, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has declared its candidates for all 90 Assembly constituencies in Chhattisgarh.
Profile of four Assembly seats
Ambikapur is the Assembly constituency number 10 and is a part of the Surguja district of Chhattisgarh. TS Singh Deo won the constituency in 2008, 2013 and 2018 Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections.
Beltara is the Assembly constituency number 31 and is a part of the Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh. Rajnish Kumar Singh of the BJP represented the constituency in the Chhattisgarh Assembly from 2018 to 2023. BJP's Badridhar Diwan won the constituency in 2013.
Kasdol is the Assembly constituency number 44 and is a part of the Baloda Bazar district of Chhattisgarh. Shakuntala Sahu of the Congress represented the constituency in the Chhattisgarh Assembly from 2018 to 2023. BJP's Gauri Shankar Agrawal won the constituency in 2013.
Bemetara is the Assembly constituency number 69 and is a part of the Bemetara district of Chhattisgarh. Ashish Kumar Chhabra of the Congress represented the constituency in the Chhattisgarh Assembly from 2018 to 2023. BJP's Awadhesh Singh Chandel won the constituency in 2013.
Earlier, the nominee for the Pandariya seat in Kabirdham district was announced by the party in its third list of candidates for the elections to the 90-member Assembly. Bhawna Bohra, chairperson of Kabirdham Zila Panchayat and secretary of the BJP's state women wing, has been fielded from Pandariya.
What happened in Chhattisgarh in 2018?
The Congress had registered a landslide victory in the 2018 polls winning 68 seats in the 90-member Assembly and comfortably formed the government. The BJP was reduced to 15 seats, while the Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (JCC) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) bagged 5 and 2 seats respectively. The current strength of the Congress is 71. The Congress has already declared its candidates for all 90 Assembly constituencies in Chhattisgarh.
