Rahul Gandhi has been gaining wide popularity on Twitter, courtesy- his witty one liners and tweets. But, BJP and critics have been constantly attacking him and suggesting that someone else has been tweeting on his behalf. On Sunday, Congress vice-president decided to give it back to the detractors who have been questioning his ability to be sarcastic.

Posting a video of his pet dog Pidi, Mr Gandhi wrote that it is this little dog who has been tweeting on his behalf. "People (have) been asking who tweets for this guy... I'm coming clean..it's me..Pidi..I'm way smarter than him. Look what I can do with a tweet..oops..treat!," he captioned the video. In the clip, the Congress leader can be heard asking the dog to do namaste and the pet obliges. Pidi even performs trick and shows his skill in balancing a crumb on his nose and then eating it in the blink of an eye. Pidi and Pidi Gandhi stated trending on Twitter and by the time of writing the video has racked up over 26k likes and 11k retweets. Moreover, 11 parody accounts named Pidi also sprung up instantly. Though, the tweet was witty attack on those commenting on his recent Twitter performance, however, it ultimately resulted in political fight on the micro-blogging site.

Former Congressman from Assam and now a BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma was among the early ones to comment. He wrote, ''Sir @OfficeOfRG, who knows him better than me. Still remember you busy feeding biscuits to him while we wanted to discuss urgent Assam's issues.'' Mr Sarma quit Congress alleging that instead of addressing the problems of state, Mr. Gandhi spent time with his pets.

BJP within no time took a jibe at Mr Gandhi by posting a morphed picture of Akshay Kumar's upcoming movie Padman. Party's IT chief Amit Malviya shared a picture in which Rahul Gandhi is seen raising his hands in the air while Pidi is steering the handles.
