Just the presence of superstar Amitabh Bachchan makes a rather dull place a lot charming. And, that one show which let people see Big B more often was Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). More than half of the people are all ears just for the Big B’s voice that will ripple the nerves of the contestants and the crowd altogether.
If you haven't replied with "Lock kar diya jaye?" when someone answers a question of yours, you haven't really grown up in the era of the most popular game show that was the first of its kind to glue families to the idiot box at the prime time, aka Kaun Banega Crorepati.
KBC was the first game show that was capable to hook an entire country into the space of answering general knowledge questions and winning money—and a lot of its credit goes to its fantastic host, Mr Bachchan.
Since so many years (KBC began in the year 2000, so it’s been a good 17 years!) we’ve been wondering as to what does Amitabh Bachchan see on his computer screen? What do those multiple gigantic screens in front of him say? Does he know the answers? Does he know the fate of every contestant? Many of our questions have finally been answered.
One of the contestants of the last season named Abhinav Pandey has revealed a lot about the show. Apparently, Abhinav sat right behind the host Amitabh Bachchan during the ‘Fastest Finger First round’ on the show and also made it to the hot seat.
Abhinav, in a source, mentioned that Amitabh’s computer is responsive i.e. he can skip the content or operate the process little bit however the main operator sits in the black zone of the studio. Meanwhile, he said that contestant’s computer is unresponsive i.e. content is controlled by black zone.
He further shared, “A contestant’s computer is unresponsive i.e. he can’t skip or flip the content shown on the screen. A typical computer screen of Bachchan sir consists of current questions, all options, winning streak, used and unused life lines. In the middle of the show, in case, Mr Bachchan forgets details like name, place, job, village or companions of a particular contestant, he can get all the data by altering the screen option or on another big screen placed diagonally to the hot seat.”
“Unlike popular belief, Bachchan sir doesn’t know the correct answer before he utters the popular three words – “Lock kar diya jaye”. It’s only after locking the answer, that his screen shows the correct answer, along with the incorrect answer and the details of the respective correct answer. To alert candidates from wrong answers are just a good gesture by the celebrity host.”
Talking about the other screens and options on the screen, he said, “Whenever a candidate opts for the ‘Phone a Friend’ lifeline, Big B’s screen shows the names and details of the ‘Phone a friend’ nominees. A timer on his screen provides the interval breaks. Though the breaks can be prolonged by the will of the host. Both the screens (Hot seat and Bachchan sir’s) are kept off during the ‘Fastest Finger First round.’.”
As per him, it is believed that even Amitabh won’t be aware of the actual answer to the question he poses to the contestant.
