Once a TV series 'Ramayan' made an entire nation sit glued to their TV screens & then there was today's 'Republic Day' celebration!
Other than crucial India-Pak or India-Aus cricket series, very few occasions witnessed the entire nation come together.
And with today's spectacular display of Indian military & cultural strength, the 66th Republic Day celebration emerged to be a power-pack nation to be watched out for!
This very day we celebrate the anniversary of our democracy and above all, we pay homage to our brave hearts who led their lives in the line of duty.
But today's celebration was a bit special for the following reasons:
1) Nari Shakti
It was for the first time in the history of India's Republic Day celebration that women power was on full display as all women contingent from the three forces - Army, Air Force and Navy- marched down the Rajpath.
2) Obama as a Chief Guest
Another first for India, that President of the world's most powerful country US graced the occasion with his presence. Not only this, breakthrough in nuclear deal has been the most important achievement of his visit.
The levels of security arrangements implemented were also unheard of at least in India.
3) Mars mission success
This was a special one, as a tableau showcasing India's giant stride in space technology, was rare as no country in the world had succeeded in putting its orbiter in Martian orbit in its maiden attempt.
4) Make in India
Another tableau was indeed a show stealer, the float displaying a working model of 'Make in India' lion invited investors and manufacturers to participate in this venture.
5) 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao
A campaign against female foeticide also grabbed people's attention. The tableau showed woman rocking her infant daughter while other women dressed as doctors, engineers and scientists gathered around her
