New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi got a pleasant surprise at the community reception in Dublin during his nearly five-hour stopover in Ireland en route to the US.
At the function, PM Modi was left mesmerized when Irish children flawlessly recited Sanskrit shlokas to welcome him.
The joy of seeing this sheer display of Indian culture on Irish territory was clearly visible on the Prime Minister's face.
PM Modi took to Twitter to express his feelings
“Overwhelmed by the community programme in Dublin. Recital of Shlokas in Sanskrit by children was very touching,” PM Modi tweeted.
Notably, Narendra Modi is the first Indian PM to visit Ireland in 59 years.
Before addressing Indian residents, Mr. Modi held talks with his Irish counterpart Enda Kenny. The meeting has raised hopes that Ireland's visa policy will be sensitive to the requirements of India's IT firms.
